Dr. Peter Tijerina, DMA, is a renowned trombonist, educator, arranger, and composer with a Doctorate in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His extensive performance background includes collaborations with the Sidewalk Stompers, the Katie Flynn Cabaret, the Lansing Symphony Jazz Band, and Latin ensembles like Milonga and Son Dulce, as well as engagements with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony and the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. Peter’s versatile musicianship and innovative approach make him a prominent figure in both classical and jazz circles.

Currently, Peter teaches at the Community Center for the Arts (C4A), serves as principal trombonist with the Urbana Pops Orchestra, and leads a ten-piece jazz band in Central Illinois. He is also an artist with Outside in Arts and a reviewer for the Online Trombone Journal (OTG) and Jazz Today, where he contributes to the advancement of trombone performance and jazz composition. His work continues to inspire and influence the music community.
